„Do it“ – an Ode to Civil Courage

For all those who are gone as well for the best among us, for all who marked us with their courage and who still inspire us to persist in fight for justice, for all of them this ode has been written.

The, group of enthusiasts decided to make a song which will be a simbol of justice. From positive energy and wish to appreciate a courage, the group made a song which will not let you indifferent.

Reading the lyrics written by professor Besim Spahic, we realise that is worth showing the courage. The primordial feelings, maybe died in some of us because of sorrow and fear, now are starting to wake up. Feelings which are worht dying for are starting to wake up too. Just like the V. Hugo said: „ Nothing is to die, awfully is to live without sense“.

The song Do it will be promoted on March 6th 2013 in Sarajevo at the aearding ceremony for „Duško Kondor“ Civil Courage Award and „Duško Kondor“ Award for Afirmation of Civil Courage.

The song is made in a Gariwo production 2013, lyrics and music is written by professor Besim Spahić, arrangement and instrumental by Amir Bjelanović Tula, vocal solist Irina Kapetanović.

Do it! - An Ode to Civil courage

It takes courage to be truthful
It takes courage not to lie
What's on your mind you say to all (to their faces)
Where help is needed, there you are (When help is needed, you're nearby)

If you falter now and then
Blaze forth with courage all the same
No matter what they think of you (no)
Be active as a citizen true (be a citizen, you gotta be true)

Help everyone who needs a hand
Even when your life's at risk
Don't just shake your head and stand, (watch)
Do what it takes, have guts, resist.

DO IT! FIGHT FOR WHAT IS RIGHT
DO IT! DO NOT FEAR THEIR MIGHT
DO IT! DEFEND WHAT'S FAIR AND JUST
DO IT! FIGHT FOR THE HELPLESS

Galileo was a brave man
He gave his life for truth's sake
And they killed Copernicus
Because he knew much more than they.

The powerful hate civic courage
For there they are weakest of all
And when defiance rings the bells (but when defiance rings the bells)
Off the throne they tumble and fall (off the throne they tumble and fall)

Hey, show us what you're made of
Don't be a stand-by all your life
Break on through, never say never
Like Duško Kondor, live forever.

I CAN DO IT! FIGHT FOR WHAT'S RIGHT
I CAN DO IT! NOT FEAR THEIR MIGHT
I CAN DO IT! DEFEND WHAT'S FAIR AND JUST
I CAN DO IT! FIGHT FOR THE HELPLESS

Ever since times of ages past
Courage has been a virtue fast
Bravery has deep historical roots.
