Dusko Kondor Civil Courage Award for 2008

In early 2008 the non-governmental organization GARIWO Sarajevo established the Dusko Kondor Civil Courage Award.

The award commemorates an uncompromising champion of civil courage, Dusko Kondor, professor in the high school in Bijeljina, Director of GARIWO's Seminars in Civil Courage and a member of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Republika Srpska. He was assassinated in his own home in Bijeljina on the 22nd of February 2007. His name has become a symbol of civil courage.

In a ceremony held in Sarajevo on the first anniversary of his death hosted by the Norwegian Embassy and attended by politicians, members of the diplomatic corps and workers in the non-governmental sector, GARIWO Sarajevo granted the Dusko Kondor Civil Courage Award to:

Dragan Andric
for civil courage - posthumously

Lazar Manojlovic
for civil courage

Denis Becirovic
for affirmation of civil courage
